In September of last year I was asked, along with prominent Chicago photographers Sandro and Saverio Truglia, to be part of a project for Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics which was being put together by Ogilvy & Mather. The task was to go around Chicago and capture real Chicagoans passionately pursuing sports in the city- whether they train and hope to be professional athletes someday or they’re a couple of friends grabbing a pick-up game while the weather is nice. There was a film portion shot by Leslie, Paul and Mark Dektor of The Cartel and we had 4 days to shoot whatever we could before we had to hand in the images to go to Copenhagen the following week.
This is some of what I shot.
